Functional Movement Yoga
Ladock Community Hall
Thursdays 6.30 -7.40

As the only contact between the body and the ground is the foot, it makes sense to think of the foot as a lever to the structure above, & train the body to be strong & supportive from the ground up.

I will guide you through a series of simple restorative postures that allow the body to flex and extend safely and effectively. Incorporating ways to strengthen the core and improve balance, stability and overall health.

If you lack confidence or are recovering from injury, depression, suffer with back, neck or shoulder pain, stress, foot issues or generally want to improve your posture and strength, this rehabilitation class is for you (beginners welcome).

£42 for the 6 week course or £9 pay as you go.

Motion and Emotion Workshop (3.5 hours)

Using the concepts of Evidence Based Functional movement, we look at - from the ground up training. This unique & exciting workshop will help you explore a holistic approach to human movement. We start with the foot, which is deeply integrated with core stability. We explore, with a practical & simplified understanding of the role of stress responses, & the connection between posture and happiness.

As the only contact between the body and the ground, it makes sense to appreciate the foot for its strength and stabilising effect. As the foundation for body control, the foot contains thousands of small nerves which are sensitive to every movement we make. The neuromuscular gateway gives us the ability to react to the stability we need for human locomotion, which makes our foot strength and flexibility crucial for effective movement.

In this workshop you will obtain valuable understanding of;

- The relationship between inflammation and depression, our emotions & relationship with posture.

- The importance of barefoot strong & the connection to the core and the neuromuscular feedback which provide neurological information for stabilising human locomotion. Using functional foot to core sequencing & balance training, we encourage effective movement through the whole body.

- You will learn a basic understanding of your foot type to establish better connection with the ground. How to increase mobility but protect against injury.

- Tips on choosing shoes, encouraging and maintaining a strong foot & easy & quick core exercises to do at home together activities to help with mobility and posture.

- We end the workshop with a gentle breath and movement meditation with sound healing vibrations to help reconnect with nature & balance your body and mind.

This workshop is suited for anyone wishing to take the next step to rehabilitate from accident or illness, any neurological or autoimmune condition, those living with pain or depression, anyone seeking to improve posture, stability & strength or improve body mind confidence and general wellbeing.

My mission is to share my knowledge far and wide, to challenge what we’ve understood to be normal, encourage positive evidence based science but still believe there is much learning to be done. The foot is the foundation to movement & sensory input. The body has an amazing capacity to heal & this workshop can give you the opportunity to optimise performance from the ground up.

Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a blanket, yoga mats, bolsters & refreshments are provided.

If you are interested in holding a workshop for a club/organisation etc and have a suitable venue please feel free to contact me.
